A friend at Apple recently put it perfectly: using AI in programming is like being handed the keys to a 747. The power is immense, but its effectiveness depends entirely on the pilot.
This is the core of my philosophy. I am that expert pilot.
With decades of experience architecting systems from first principles, I know exactly what I want to create. I use AI not as a crutch, but as a powerful co-pilot—to accelerate development, perform exhaustive code analysis, and turn complex architectural visions into reality, faster and more robustly than ever before.
My work isn't about letting a machine write code. It's about leveraging my deep experience to guide powerful tools, ensuring the final product is not just functional, but also elegant, maintainable, and built to last.
My Background
My journey in tech has always been about understanding systems from first principles. As the creator of the Gentoo and Funtoo Linux distributions, I learned what it takes to build a robust, scalable, and maintainable operating system from the ground up.
That experience taught me that the best solutions are born from a deep understanding of the fundamentals. Today, I apply that same ethos to a broader set of architectural challenges. I use AI not as a replacement for expertise, but as a powerful amplifier for it. For example, I recently architected and, with an AI partner, co-developed a 30,000-line C++ application—a feat that demonstrates the powerful synergy of human experience and machine intelligence.
My focus is on helping clients build well-designed systems, whether that involves a Python API, a C++ library, or a complex MediaWiki deployment.
What I Look For in a Project
